The Haitian Women’s Collective (HWC) was founded by Haitian women who saw the urgent need to strengthen women-led organizations in Haiti and across the diaspora.
We believe lasting change happens when women lead—because they understand their communities deeply and bring resilient, innovative solutions.

Why Women-Led Organizations
Matter
Across Haiti, women-led organizations are driving solutions to today’s toughest challenges—maternal health, education, livelihoods, climate resilience, and more. Yet these organizations remain underfunded and overlooked.
One of our greatest challenges is the scarcity of flexible and sustainable funding. Too often, resources are short-term or heavily restricted, which prevents us from investing in our organizational strength, ensuring fair working conditions, or sustaining long-term programs.
- Only 3% of $2.8B in USAID funding (2010–2022) went to Haiti-based orgs.
- 90 percent of women-led and women's rights organizations across 44 crisis contexts globally have been hit by funding cuts.
What We Do
Unlike outside implementers, we don’t replicate on-the-ground work. Instead, we champion existing Haitian women-led organizations—the ones already embedded in their communities.
