Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I donate through you? Can I not donate directly to community-based organizations in Haiti?

You are welcome to donate directly to community-based organizations in Haiti. We exist because Haitian community-based organizations often don’t have the infrastructure to accept and absorb foreign funding.

I want to contribute to your work and I’m interested in specific aspects of civil society work in Haiti, eg: health and nutrition. How can I ensure that my giving to you is aligned to my core interests?

Our team would love to work with you to ensure that your giving is synergistic with your interest areas. If you get in touch with your team, we can curate a portfolio of organizations and their needs that can thrive with your support.

I’m interested in volunteering for the Collective. How do I get started?

Thank you for your interest. Currently our greatest need is fundraising, and administration around resources. We don’t typically have regular weekend opportunities, but we’d love your help in amplifying our events and doing some peer-to-peer fundraising. Feel free to get in touch, and we can find you a role that matches your interest and our needs!

What are the operating expenses for Haitian Women’s Collective?

Our main focus is strengthening civil society in Haiti, and keeping our own operations as lean as possible. We do have a team of 4-5 people to oversee fundraising, partner communications, capacity building and convening. We ensure that each of our work streams add distinct value to our Haitian partners.
