The organization's annual reports highlight its significant impact over the past year, with a particular focus on the projects that these women-led organizations have had on the communities in Haiti. Through various initiatives and collaborations, the organization has played a crucial role in providing support and resources to these organizations so that they can be successful in their mission. Their efforts have aimed to build resilience and foster long-term solutions in the Haitian communities.
The 2023 year for the Haitian Women’s Collective allowed our continued advocacy and recognition of local Haitian women-led organizations. We started our strategic planning process to look at the future of the Collective as well as the future development of The Fund for Women. A second year of grantmaking provided general operating support to trusted partners.
Despite increased instability, a fragile government, and a precarious security and humanitarian crisis, the organizations continue to provide diverse services in various communities. The role of HW is to support local organizations in advancing their goals through networking, information sharing, strengthening their capacity, and allowing for thoughts, ideas, and breast practices.
In addition to developing an advisory board for the development of the Fund, we also held a convening in November to strengthen our initial findings of the strategic plan. The plan will be finished in 2024 and align with our launch in 2025.
The importance of using a feminist framework and applying a gender justice lens to the current approaches of HWC is important now more than ever, especially as we enter the first quarter of 2024 with a lack of human rights and minimal democratic principles of accountability and justice. We understand that we have to address the root causes of discriminatory practices, particularly for women and girls who have suffered increased violence during this time of crisis In Haiti. Our work continues with a focus on equity and empowerment.
